Access Control Assessment

Access control rarely fails loudly. GSS assesses the technology and the procedures behind it against what actually happens on site, including the exposure created by the people the program is built to trust.

OPERATIONAL CONTEXT

Access control fails quietly, long before an alarm ever sounds

An access control program is the combination of credentialing, authorization, badge or biometric technology, and escort and visitor procedure that governs who is allowed where. Most failures in these programs aren't technology failures — they're administrative drift: authorizations that outlive their justification, escort practice that has quietly become informal, exceptions that became the rule.

GSS assesses both the technology and the governing procedure, and checks each against observed practice on site rather than against the written policy alone. The evaluation is explicitly insider-threat aware: the population with trusted access is also the population best positioned to defeat the controls meant to check them, and an assessment that ignores that isn't measuring the actual risk.

Findings translate into both technology recommendations and policy updates, coordinated with GSS's own policy development and program audit work rather than delivered as a standalone finding set.

METHODOLOGY
01Program & Procedure ReviewCredentialing, authorization, and escort procedures reviewed against governing documentation.
02Technology AssessmentBadge, biometric, and access-control system performance evaluated against site requirements.
03Practice ObservationActual site practice observed against written procedure to identify drift.
04Insider-Threat ConsiderationAccess population and authorization scope reviewed explicitly for insider-threat exposure.
05Authorization AuditSample of active authorizations checked for currency and justification.
06Findings & Remediation PlanGaps prioritized into a remediation plan with owners and timelines.
