Perimeter Security & Intrusion Detection

A perimeter that only slows an adversary down, without telling anyone it's happening, isn't doing its job. GSS designs detection, assessment, and delay as one integrated layer, not three separate purchases.

OPERATIONAL CONTEXT

The perimeter has one job: buy time to know and to act

Perimeter security has three functions that only work as a set: detection tells the site something is happening, assessment confirms what it is, and delay buys the time needed to respond to it. A perimeter that delays without detecting, or detects without assessment, fails the protective strategy regardless of how well any single piece performs on its own.

GSS evaluates and designs both interim — rapidly deployable — and permanent intrusion detection technology, matched to the site's terrain, its nuisance-alarm environment, and the detection requirement the Design Basis Threat actually demands. Selection is driven by that requirement, not by whichever technology is easiest to install.

Detection timing is coordinated directly with pathway and timeline analysis, so the perimeter's contribution to the timeline is validated by measurement rather than assumed from a datasheet.

METHODOLOGY
01Boundary & Terrain AssessmentPerimeter geometry, terrain, and nuisance-alarm sources catalogued.
02Detection Requirement DefinitionProbability-of-detection and nuisance-alarm-rate requirements set against the protective strategy.
03Technology SelectionSensor, video assessment, and lighting technology selected and matched to terrain and requirement, interim or permanent.
04Delay IntegrationPerimeter delay elements — fencing, barriers — coordinated with detection placement rather than specified separately.
05Commissioning & TuningSystem commissioned and nuisance-alarm rate tuned against live site conditions.
06Performance ValidationDetection performance validated against the timeline requirement it was designed to meet.
